Kompas.com – The Red and White Cabinet of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka has included a unique nomenclature in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely the deputy minister of foreign affairs (wamenlu) with a special task in charge of the Islamic world. The General Chairperson of the Gelora Party, Anis Matta, is tasked with carrying out the mandate.

Support for Palestinian independence, as expressed by Prabowo in his first speech as President of Indonesia, is likely to be a definite part of the assignment.

But is that all?

What interests Prabowo so much that he created the nomenclature of deputy foreign minister with the special task of handling the Islamic world?

"I think the main theme remains the economy," said The Prakarsa Executive Director, Ah Maftuchan, Wednesday (23/10/2024).

Although, Maftuchan still sees Prabowo as serious with the content of his speech about supporting Palestinian independence. Equally serious, according to him, Anis Matta will be tasked with promoting the Indonesian model of Islam.

"Because a number of countries, such as Afghanistan, expect us to help them in the transition process to a more stable (political) system," said Maftuchan.

The proof, he said, was that several Afghan delegations had come to Indonesia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed up on that. The Indonesian government also sent a kind of "special envoy", namely former vice president Jusuf Kalla to the country some time ago.
