Awan served as Officer in the field of Social Policy at The PRAKARSA since 2022 and is responsible for conducting research, managing projects and programs, as well as advocating on issues related to social policy at the national and international levels.
Awan holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the Department of Social Welfare, University of Jember. The topic of his thesis research relates to the use of social capital in the community empowerment process carried out by a hearing disability group in Bengkala Village, Buleleng, Bali. Subsequently, he completed his Master's degree in the Welfare Policy and Management program, Lund University, Sweden, with a thesis topic on the motives and practices of elderly care by the sandwich generation in Indonesia.
before in PRAKARSA, Awan worked as a district officer on the issue of inclusive education for children with disabilities in the South Sulawesi region, and for several years was a consultant, researcher and editor at several national institutions.
Awan has an interest in issues of social security, social protection, GEDSI, poverty alleviation and inclusive employment. She is involved in several advocacy processes at the local, national and international levels on these issues and always uses the lens of social justice and gender equality.
While in PRAKARSA, Awan is involved in research on inclusive employment issues, multidimensional poverty, equitable global supply chain, and health insurance. In addition, he is also actively involved in the process Indonesian C20, official engagement of G20 Indonesia 2022, and is believed to be one advisor to the C20 India gender equality and disability working group 2023. Several of his articles have been published in The Conversation, The Jakarta Post, East Asia Forumand Vice.
