Multidimensional Poverty Profile of Bali Province

In general, the percentage of multidimensional poverty in Bali Province shows a relatively significant decline during 2012-2022. The multidimensional poverty rate has decreased from 34,34% in 2012 to 6,46% in 2021. Urban areas show a decrease of around seven times between 2012 and 2021.

For a decade, multidimensional poverty experienced the biggest decline from 2014 to 2015, namely a decrease of 4,96 points. However, the decline in multidimensional poverty at the village level was highest in 2016-2017 with a decrease of up to 6,67 points. The smallest decrease in the poverty rate will occur in 2020 to 2021 with only 0,64%. Whereas in urban areas in 2020-2021 the number of multidimensional poverty has actually experienced a slight increase of 0,74%.

The multidimensional poverty index that multiplies the percentage and intensity of multidimensional poverty in Bali has decreased from 0,17 in 2012 to 0,03 in 2021, or decreased by 0,14 points. The biggest decline occurred in 2014 to 2015, namely a decrease of 0,03 points, while the smallest decline occurred in 2020-2021 with an almost zero decrease or no decrease at all.

Bali Province Multidimensional Poverty Index Based on Regency/City

In general, multidimensional poverty at the district/city level in Bali mostly originates from indicators of morbidity, decent housing and cooking fuel. The city with the highest poverty index is Denpasar City with an IKM value of 0,096. As much as 22,66% of the population in Denpasar City experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 42,53%. Meanwhile, the district/city in Bali with the lowest poverty is Badung Regency with a multidimensional poverty index of 0,002. Only 0,63% of the population in Badung Regency experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 39,20%.
