Multidimensional Poverty Profile of West Nusa Tenggara Province

In general, the percentage of multidimensional poverty in the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) shows a trend of a significant decline during 2012-2022. The Multidimensional Poverty Rate fell from 73,57% in 2012 to 19,71% in 2021 or decreased by four times. A significant decrease occurred in urban areas with a poverty rate of 59,74% in 2012 to 11,00% in 2021.

The highest decrease in multidimensional poverty in rural areas occurred in 2020-2021 with a decrease of up to 11,41 points. Whereas in urban areas in 2020-2021 the number of multidimensional poverty has decreased by 6,38 points. In addition to the decreasing percentage of the multidimensional poverty rate, there is also a decrease in the intensity of multidimensional poverty from 53,74% in 2012 to 42,21% in 2021.

The IKM, which describes the percentage and intensity of multidimensional poverty in NTB, has experienced a relatively significant decline from 0,40 in 2012 to 0,08 in 2021, or a decrease of 0,31 points. The biggest decrease occurred in 2014 to 2015, namely a decrease of 0,05 points, the smallest decrease occurred in 2018-2019 with a decrease of only 0,02 points. In general, over the last 10 years, there has been a decline in the number of IKM in the Province of NTB with the most significant decrease in the number of IKM occurring in 2014-2015. The decline is also consistent for the percentage of the poverty rate and the intensity of multidimensional poverty.

West Nusa Tenggara Province Multidimensional Poverty Index Based on Regency/City

In general, poverty at the district/city level in NTB comes from indicators of decent housing, morbidity and proper drinking water. In 2021, the city with the highest poverty index will be Dompu Regency with an IKM of 0,154. As much as 35,15% of the population in Dompu District experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 43,91%. Meanwhile, the district/city in NTB with the lowest poverty is the City of Mataram with a Multidimensional Poverty Index of 0,012. Only 3,09% of the population in Mataram City experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 40,14%.
