Multidimensional Poverty Profile of South Sulawesi Province
In general, multidimensional poverty in South Sulawesi Province (Sulsel) shows a significant decline in 2012-2021. The multidimensional poverty rate fell from 54,45% in 2012 to 14,66% in 2021 or decreased by more than 39,79 points. A significant decrease occurred in rural areas with a decrease of 48,67 points between 2012 and 2021. Over the past 10 years, multidimensional poverty experienced a significant decline in 2014-2015, from 47,27% to 38,96%.
The highest decline in multidimensional poverty at the village level also occurred in 2014-2015 with a decrease of up to 11,00 points. The Province of South Sulawesi has consistently experienced a decline in the multidimensional poverty rate from 2012 to 2021, but there has been an increase in urban areas in 2015-2016 (from 18,64% to 19,06%) and 2017-2018 (from 15,06% to 15,31 points). In addition to the decreasing multidimensional poverty rate, there is also a decrease in the intensity of multidimensional poverty from 50,89% in 2012 to 42,38% in 2021. The biggest decline has occurred in rural areas, which has decreased from 51,40% to 42,48%. This shows that the level of intensity of poverty has decreased, indicating that the burden of poverty experienced by the poor in South Sulawesi has become much lighter and less than in the last decade.
Multidimensional poverty index which describes the percentage and intensity of multidimensional poverty. IKM in South Sulawesi has decreased from 0,28 points in 2012 to 0,06 points in 2021 or decreased by 0,22 points. The biggest decline occurred in the last two years (2019-2021) by 0,4 points. However, a gradual decline occurred in the percentage and intensity of multidimensional poverty.

Multidimensional Poverty Index of South Sulawesi Province Based on Regency/City
In general, district/city poverty in South Sulawesi originates from indicators of decent housing, morbidity and toddler nutrition. Apart from these indicators, there are also other indicators that contribute to district/city poverty, such as proper drinking water, [1] birth certificates, [2] and housing density [3]. The district/city with the highest poverty index is Tana Toraja Regency with an IKM of 0,17. 39,02% of the population in Tana Toraja district experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 44,39%. The district/city in South Sulawesi with the lowest poverty is Parepare Municipality with a multidimensional poverty index of 0,012. Only 4,11% of the population in Parepare City experience multidimensional poverty with a severity level of 42,96%.
