Multidimensional Poverty Profile of North Sumatra Province

In general, multidimensional poverty in North Sumatra Province has shown a significant decline in 2012-2021. The multidimensional poverty rate fell from 55,22% in 2012 to 18,50% in 2021. A significant decrease occurred in rural areas with a decrease of 74,16% in 2012 to 30,11% in 2021.

For a decade, the multidimensional poverty rate has decreased significantly from 2020 to 2021 from 24,67% to 18,50%. The biggest decrease during this period also occurred in rural areas, namely by 37,55% in 2020 to 30,11% in 2021. Meanwhile, the smallest decrease in urban areas occurred in 2015 to 2016 by 25,01% to 22,94 %.

Multidimensional poverty index which describes the percentage and intensity of multidimensional poverty. IKM in North Sumatra has decreased from 0,29 in 2012 to 0,08 in 2021 or decreased by 0,21 points. The biggest decline occurred in 2012 to 2013, 2014 to 2015, and 2020-2021, namely a decrease of 0,03 points each, while in years other than those years the average decreased by 0,02 points.
