This document summarizes the two-decade journey of The PRAKARSA, a research and policy advocacy institution in Indonesia, which was established on August 31, 2004. With a focus on building a democratic, just, prosperous and sustainable society, PRAKARSA has contributed to producing innovative knowledge through research, policy brief, and advocacy. In these two decades, PRAKARSA has succeeded in strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in influencing policy and creating awareness on social, fiscal and sustainable development issues.
Through in-depth interviews with founders, implementers, partners and stakeholders, this document presents a reflection on the achievements PRAKARSA and the challenges faced in evidence-based policy advocacy. PRAKARSA positioning itself as a liaison between public voices and public policy, seeking to ensure that every policy reflects justice, especially for vulnerable groups.
This document also describes the transformation PRAKARSA become an organic think tank, which focuses on developing practical recommendations and knowledge-based solutions. With a vision to become an international standard research institution, PRAKARSA continues to be committed to generating new ideas that support socio-economic justice.
