PRAKARSA Strengthening the Policy Advocacy Capacity of Trade Unions and Online Drivers Through Policy Brief Training with the Fair and Prosperous Forum Foundation (YFAS)

Jakarta, The PRAKARSA - The PRAKARSA in collaboration with the Fair and Prosperous Forum Foundation (YFAS) to organize In-House Training  The "Policy Analysis Process and Policy Brief Writing" focused on employment issues and online driver protection. The event, held at the Mercure Cikini Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday, December 11, 2025, was attended by 20 representatives from the YFAS Executive Board, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions (F-GSBM), and the Indonesian Online Drivers Union (SePOI).

This training is motivated by the need for policy advocacy based on data and evidence (evidence-based policy) amidst the complexity of employment issues, particularly those faced by workers and online drivers. In practice, the results of various studies, surveys, and field findings are often not effectively articulated in the form of policy input that is concise, clear, and easily understood by decision-makers.

The training was facilitated by the The Association team PRAKARSA, namely Victoria Fanggidae (Executive Director), Roby Rushandie (Research and Knowledge Manager), and Jati Pramono (Program Manager). The facilitators provided participants with a conceptual understanding of the policy analysis process, public problem identification, policy alternative assessment, and policy development techniques. policy brief effective, communicative, and persuasive.

YFAS, a civil society organization that has been actively supporting workers and online drivers in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), Bandung, and Lampung areas, continues to conduct studies related to wages, workers' rights protection, and working conditions for online drivers. Through this training, it is hoped that the results of these studies will not only serve as a tool to strengthen the mass base but also be processed into more systematic and influential policy input.

Evidence-Based Advocacy Synergy

This training is part of a joint effort to strengthen the role of civil society organizations in the public policy formulation process, particularly employment policies and online driver protection. A collaboration between YFAS and PRAKARSA shows that strengthening policy analysis and communication capacity is an important foundation in fighting for policies that are fair, transparent, and pro-vulnerable groups.
