This festival aims to celebrate the success of innovative development practices, especially in eastern Indonesia, by presenting stakeholders consisting of local government, civil society, academics and researchers, the private sector and the international development community.
KONEKSI is a flagship program of the Australian Government which collaborates with the Government of Indonesia in the research and innovation sector to advance the mutual interests of both countries and support Indonesia to increase the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and strategies. The festival also aims to address gaps in knowledge partnerships, as well as promote local knowledge as an important source of knowledge.
This festival opened with a discussion discussing issues related to inequality in research, collaboration and roles local knowledge that needs to be improved in research collaboration, both between central – regional, West – East Indonesia and internationally. There was a lot of discussion about academic research and collaboration between institutions or campuses and how government policies have begun to 'tidy up' databases and many aspects related to research collaboration.
Then it continued with a discussion session which discussed issues related to collaboration in planning and conducting research. Victoria, who at that time acted as facilitator for the session, also raised issues related to the role of NGOs in research, both action research and policy research, especially in conducting commitment, "because this issue is still not widely discussed," he said.
Furthermore, this festival is also filled with various presentation sessions best practices development, between government, individuals and community groups. According to Victoria, this session provided many development innovation ideas that could be developed by the participants present.
