PRAKARSA Working Paper 02 – Universal Basic Income

The multidimensional crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has sparked talk about Universal Basic Income (UBI) or the Universal Basic Income Guarantee (Jamesta), not only at the conceptual-ideal level but has also penetrated to the experimental-implementation level. Moreover, various countries in the world have been busy conducting Jamesta trials as a response to the multidimensional crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The arguments for the pros and cons need to be examined and studied to be able to find a menu of policies that fit the Indonesian context. By digesting the development of the debate and the various experiments in its implementation, this working paper is intended to provide factual and analytic information about Jamesta. This working paper also proposes a simulation scenario for the implementation of Jamesta in Indonesia.
