PRAKARSA together with TAFJA (Tax and Fiscal Justice Asia) in the research Tracking Global Value Chain in the Agriculture and Fisheries Sector in ASEAN found that the participation of marginalized groups at the upstream level in global value chains is often disadvantaged.
Groups of small farmers, fishermen, MSMEs, laborers and women workers, have not yet received added value from the global value chain. Current business practices are not inclusive and provide little value in improving their welfare and standard of living.
Then what is the role of policy makers in creating inclusiveness in each of these value chains?
