Bali, 6 March 2022 – Civil 20 (C20) Indonesia will hold a C20 Kick Off Ceremony & Meeting titled Listening to the World in Bali, 7-9 March 2022. The big theme was chosen to reflect the commitment of Indonesian civil society to listen to the aspirations of the global civil society in carrying out the mandate of the C20 Presidency of the G20 Indonesia. 2022.
“In accordance with President Joko Widodo's mandate, that the Indonesian G20 Presidency must carry the spirit of solidarity and inclusiveness, and also make our position as representatives of developing countries and listen to the aspirations of poor countries in the policy-making process in the G20 ,” said Sugeng Bahagijo, Chair of C20 Indonesia on the sidelines of the preparations for the C20 Kick Off Meeting & Ceremony in Bali, March 6, 2022.
The C20 Kick-Off Ceremony & Meeting will highlight global issues such as humanity, development, global taxes, energy transition to issues of women and vulnerable and marginalized groups, wrapped in a number of presentation sessions and dialogues. The event will be opened by Indonesian President Joko Widodo (in confirmation), Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, and Chair of C20 Indonesia Sugeng Bahagijo.
This event will be held on a hybrid basis (online and offline) at the Conrad Hotel Nusa Dua, Bali and the Zoom application, to maximize participation from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from all over the world. The current total registrants are more than 100 CSOs from more than 30 countries. This event will also be attended by representatives of international CSOs who are part of the C20 structure, such as from Troika C20 Italy and India. Engagement Groups, Working Groups, Ministries and Institutions, representatives of G20 member countries and C20 international partners will participate in a series of activities as a collaborative effort of C20 with multi-stakeholders. On the first day, C20 Indonesia will launch the priority agenda raised through the G20 forum to the public.
The second day which coincides with the International Women's Day on March 8, 2022, C20 took the initiative to hold side events in the form of offline and online dialogues with various themes which will continue until March 9, 2022 (poster attached). The Global Press Conference will also be held on March 8 at noon inviting both national and international journalists. This meeting will become the momentum of a major movement of civil society organizations in balancing the policy-making process in the G20.

History proves that civil society organizations in various countries have played an important role in determining the direction of domestic and global policies. C20 is ready to collaborate with G20 and non-G20 member governments, business, youth, women, workers, academics, local governments and other parties to advance global policies that are in favor of the wider community, are just and sustainable. The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us the importance of multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral collaboration.
