Nor Ismah, Ph.D

Nor Ismah is a research, training and curriculum development consultant specializing in gender and media for government agencies, as well as national and international NGOs. He has contributed to various research projects undertaken by The PRAKARSA, including evaluation research on the Process and Impact of Community-Based Vocational Training Centers in Yogyakarta, Riau, and Bandung (in 2020 and 2022) and a research project entitled “Study of Learning of Women's Economic Empowerment in Villages by Civil Society Organizations in Indonesia” (in 2020 ).

 

Nor Ismah earned an MA in Southeast Asian Studies from the School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, USA, in 2012. Her studies were made possible with assistance from the International Fellowship Program from the Ford Foundation. From 2016 to 2023, he continued his doctoral studies at the Leiden University Institute for Area Studies (LIAS), which is fully sponsored by the Indonesian Education Endowment Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Her research focuses on areas such as Islam, women's knowledge production, and the media.

 

Recently, Nor Ismah was selected as a finalist for the Gosling-lim 2023 and the Association of Asian Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship in Southeast Asian Studies. This prestigious scholarship will be hosted at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Michigan.
