Open Government Research Report Examining the Use of Local Government E-Government in Indonesia

The rapid development of information and communication technology has changed the paradigm of governance in providing public services to the public that are open, participatory, and innovative. In Indonesia, the government's commitment to realize public services that are more open, participatory, and innovative is manifested in the Open Government Indonesia (OGI) movement. Currently, the optimization of information and communication technology through e-government in Indonesia is taking place massively. The existence of e-government facilitates interactions that occur between the government, the community, and the authorities so that it is good for the implementation of good governance.

Various facts in the field show that the implementation of e-government is able to overcome unique problems at the regional level, and can be adapted to the context of the potential and capacity of each region. Check out our research report related to the use of e-government by presenting three case studies of best practices for e-government in the regions, where DKI Jakarta is the case study for the provincial level, Makassar for the city level, and Bojonegoro for the district level. Each case study was reviewed using inductive and descriptive analysis by looking at aspects of social, political, and economic dynamics.
