Excerpts from the Field: A Reflection on the Journey of e-Government in the Region

Indonesia is not left behind in implementing open government. As one of the pioneering countries, Indonesia also recognizes the importance of transparency, accountability and participation in governance. This is strongly related to the fact that Indonesia needs to be free from the grip of corruption, collusion and nepotism in the delivery of public services. The Open Government Indonesia action plan describes the achievements targeted by the government. Although there are five cities for developing the Open Government Partnership, namely DKI Jakarta Province, Banda Aceh City, Semarang City, Bandung City and Bojonegoro Regency, open government practices are also being developed by other local governments, such as Makassar City.

On this occasion, this book aims to provide travel stories from regions that have implemented open government and developed e-government in efforts to reform the bureaucracy in their regions. This story is a small piece of data whose value and meaning are very significant to reflect the extent to which the achievements, achievements, fall and rise of the implementation of open government and e-government. These stories were written with several researchers with subjective observations and using a reflection approach. The data mining questions the extent to which the implementation of open government and the use of e-government really touches the community, brings change, and improves public services.
