Researcher Prakarsa Call Jakarta Has a Problem Adequacy of Nutrition for Toddlers

tirto.id – Association Prakarsa noted that DKI Jakarta has a high nutritional problem for toddlers compared to other regions. This is known through the measurement of multidimensional poverty indicators (IKM) in the category of nutritional intake for toddlers, whose value reaches 53 percent of the total population of DKI Jakarta. On the other hand, the multidimensional poverty rate is low at 2,17 percent. "The city of Jakarta turns out to be poor in nutrition even though the cumulative poverty rate is low," said the researcher Prakarsa, Rahmanda M. Thariq in a discussion entitled 'Ahead of the Final Debate of the 2019 Presidential Election', at Madame Delima, Jakarta, Thursday (11/4/2019).

In his research, Prakarsa defines the issue of nutritional intake for toddlers as the nutritional adequacy received by children in three age groups. Starting from 0-1 years, 1-3 years, and 3-5 years. This condition, he said, is a contrast to the face of Jakarta, which is known to most people as a developed city. Association Researcher Prakarsa, Dwi Rahayu Ningrum, said this research used 8 indicators that were considered to reflect a person's living conditions. This indicator consists of sanitation, proper drinking water, nutritional intake for toddlers, participation in pre-school education, school continuity, sources of lighting, cooking fuel, and living conditions. In addition, he continued, the calculation method is different from monetary poverty which is usually calculated based on the consumption ability or basic needs of the community. Because, said Dwi, the method commonly used by BPS views the poor as those who only have an average expenditure below the poverty line (GK).
